The Wraparound Emergency Child Care Advocacy Network (WECAN) is a coalition of emergency child care providers, crisis nurseries, and their supporters and partners. We are dedicated to policy and advocacy efforts aimed at ensuring every family has access to safe, affordable, and high-quality emergency child care.

WHY EMERGENCY CHILD CARE MATTERS

When families face sudden crisis — illness, violence, housing loss — children are often left without safe care. Without support, these moments can lead to trauma, neglect, or abuse.

WECAN was founded on the belief that our voices are stronger together.

Our mission is to champion policies, partnerships, and funding sources that guarantee access to emergency child care for all families, preventing child abuse and neglect and strengthening families.

What WECAN Does

Policy Advocacy

We champion federal policies that expand emergency child care access and funding.

Community Mobilization

We equip and mobilize families, providers, and allies to support policy change and raise awareness on Capitol Hill.

Partnership Building

We foster collaboration among federal agencies, non-profits, and emergency child care providers to strengthen our collective advocacy.
