Caribbean Renewable Energy Campaign
Submitted by Carlos Rymer on Sun, 08/12/2007 - 09:14.
In the Dominican Republic, a renewable energy campaign is being planned to convince the tourism sector to invest in renewable energy so as to allow these sources of energy to meet 50% of energy demand by 2020. Since the Caribbean's economy is based on tourism and would be deeply affected by inaction to prevent dramatic sea level rise and other effects of climate change, it is very important that unprecedented action is taken by this sector to show the kind of international leadership necessary to avoid climate catastrophe. We are looking for interested companies and organizations in the Caribbean that would like to form a coalition to develop a renewable energy campaign that will set a Caribbean-wide target of 50% renewable energy by 2020 and carbon neutrality by 2030. Anybody interested should contact Carlos Rymer at carlos.rymer@gmail.com. »
