    Compassion Advocacy Network, Inc. announces education head

    Compassion Advocacy Network, which ministers to a multitude of nursing home residents and to inner city young people ages five to eighteen in the greater Hampton Roads area, announced today it has named Dr. Mildred Summerville as its new executive vice president.  

    Dr. Summerville, the founder of Teaching Academics for Life Learning, a non-profit youth educational services outreach ministry in Wilson, NC, will be in charge of developing mentoring and out-of-school programs that support at-risk, low and moderate income students. Compassion Advocacy Network, which has exclusively focused its attention in Hampton Roads, VA, will expand its Neighborhood Outreach Works™ (NOW) efforts into North Carolina and then nationally.     Blocker Norfolk YMCA and CAN launch ‘Show us your “sweet” heart.’

    Compassion Advocacy Network, which ministers to a multitude of nursing home residents and to inner city young people ages five to eighteen in the greater Hampton Roads area, launched its ‘Show us your “sweet” heart’ event at The Blocker Norfolk YMCA .
    Little heart shaped decals with the name; age and need of a child are prominently displayed throughout the downtown facility. YMCA members have the opportunity to help provide poor neighbors with at risk children with items ranging from, socks, shirts, household cleaning supplies, grocery items, food to eye glasses to a warm bed set to sleep in. “We are delighted and appreciate the out pouring of support. This marks the second time the “Y” has stepped up.”, says Rev. Johnathan Stanley, co-founder and Chairman of CAN. More...

    Compassion Advocacy Network through its partnership with Blocker Norfolk Family YMCA, Greenbrier North YMCA Wellness & Racquetball Center and Portsmouth Effingham YMCA, were able to deliver Christmas gifts to residents of Sentara Portsmouth Nursing Center and Sentara Chesapeake Nursing Center. The out-pouring of support generated through Angel Trees at these YMCA of South Hampton Roads locations also made it possible for Neighborhood Outreach Works (NOW) to deliver Christmas gifts to 72 kids and for six families to receive Christmas dinner.  Our thanks to all who gave.
